A Southwest airplane en path to Cancun, Mexico managed to make a protected touchdown after flames have been seen capturing out of its proper wing.

The incident was caught on video after Tuesday’s flight took off from William P. Pastime Airport in Houston, Texas. In a press release obtained by PEOPLE on Thursday, a spokesperson for the airline shared that the flight, recognized as Southwest Flight #307, “returned to the airport on Tuesday night time after experiencing a mechanical challenge shortly after takeoff.”

“The plane landed safely and was taken out of service for evaluation,” the airline added in its assertion. “A special plane continued the flight to Cancun final night, and we admire our clients’ endurance and help.”

The video confirmed the flight flying over a cloudy sky when the surprising sight started to happen. A passenger on the airplane shared with CBS affiliate KHOU that the airplane started to swing left and proper through the incident.

“I believe I fly a couple of times a month, and I knew that wasn’t regular, and so I opened up my window, and I’m sitting subsequent to the engine, and that entire engine you see like fireballs popping out of it,” shared Coale Kalisek, who stated he was heading to journey hotspot on trip along with his girlfriend.

Fellow passenger Jordan Kleinecke spoke out in regards to the incident, telling ABC Information: “We felt like a bit of air pocket going up. After which I heard the increase … and then you definitely began smelling the gas.”
